This is a very tough type from Kansas but it's likely the lowest grade among the eight large notes reported. The National Bank Note Census shows only nine Original Series $5s. Signers were H.L. Jarboe, President and N.P. Garretson, Cashier. The Bank of Jarboe, Garretson & Co., which began business at Burlington on April 14, 1870, was the first banking establishment in Coffey County.
