A bank that is plenty available in large size but an outright rarity in small size. This is likely due to the fact that the receiver paid a rather unwelcome visit in 1930 and shut the doors on this Coles County institution. There are only 4 listed in the census and this note is one of two to have seen the light of day. It is also the only $5 note, with the other three examples $20 notes. PMG notes a couple of tears. One of the $20 notes is a soily VG which realized about $450 in a weak 2015 market. This note first sold publicly for $690 back in 2011. Our voluminous Illinois collection, which we sold back in August, was missing a small size note on this charter. Darn rare and extremely desirable.
