Grade:

A very attractive Blue Seal from Gilper County and a bank with 31 large notes reported, including 21 which are Territorials, mainly black charter numbers. Here we have a lovely Blue Seal that is better than the Mayer Collection example in Fine that sold for $4,312, but not quite as lovely as the XF we sold last year for $5,k462. The pen signatures appear to be family, like John Jenkins (father), President and W.O. Jenkins (son), Cashier. In May, 1859, gold was discovered by John Gregory in what became known as Gregory Gulch. Thousands poured into the area, and Central City was so named because of its central location among the various camps such as Blackhawk and Mountain City.
