Mankato was the home to six national banks and this is the only one that has yet to be found. Now it has been and it is the best possible #1 "A" position example. This bank was only in business from 1886 to 1898. Only 4,906 sheets of $5 Brown Backs were all that were ever issued. A great Minnesota rarity with outstanding signatures of Daniel Burt, President and Jno. R. Thomas, Cashier. It was poorly cared for, apparently kept as a wallet piece which is evident on the back. It has been perfectly restored, repairing that weakness which is virtually undetectable. This piece may never see the light of day for generations.
