Lot #811 - NC-121 5 Shillings April 23, 1761

Colonial Currency > North Carolina

NC-121 5 Shillings April 23, 1761
Grade: CU
This astounding note is about as nice as we have ever seen. The 5 Shillings note is the last of the low denomination notes that are rarely available, and certainly not in any reasonable grade. There is a single light stain in the lower right corner. Three behemoth margins, four bold signatures and a plethora of mountainous embossing make this a trophy Colonial note for the winning bidder. Newman values this at $400 in Fine with no higher grade given. If you want to fill the 5 Shillings hole in your collection with something better than a rag you better grab it now as your next opportunity might be a very long time from now.
Current Bid: $ 750.00

Estimate: ($ 1,250.00 - $ 1,750.00)
