As one might expect, cattle is the main business here. The town is even named for the Hereford breed. Located in remote Deaf Smith County in the Texas Panhandle, where there are probably more cows than people, Hereford was the only town large enough to support a national bank. Actually, it had two banks and notes on both are rather scarce today. This one however, is a bit more available with ten each of the large and small notes.
