Lot #2320 - Fountain, First NB, W6772

National Bank Notes > Colorado

Fountain, First NB, W6772
Fr. 616 $10 1902DB
Grade: VG
Only two of the four large notes known on this one-bank town have ever been offered publicly for sale. The most recent was at the 2008 Memphis sale where we sold Mr. Mayer s Fine example for $3,220. Before that, one must go all the way back to 1997 for the previous opportunity. This note has some edge splits and soil, but good signatures, and there is no doubt it is rare. Now a suburb of Colorado Springs, Fountain was named for Fountain Creek which ran through the town. The town was virtually destroyed in 1888 when a railroad car of blasting powder exploded.
Current Bid: $ 2,400.00

Estimate: ($ 2,500.00 - $ 4,500.00)
