September 2, 1861. Printed by the Southern Bank Note Company of New Orleans. The central vignette depicts a Native American family flanked by the denomination expressed in Roman numerals. Vignettes of Thetis and a standing female dressed in native attire dominate the upper left and right corners respectively, with the denomination printed beneath each. A bright orange overprint, echoing the denomination, appears at the center as an anti-counterfeiting device. Some soiling present and cut tight at the upper left. Several small holes are present, the largest above the vignette of Thetis.
