National Bank Notes > Colorado
Johnstown, First NB, 8636

This is arguably the rarest of all the Colorado notes we have to offer at the 2011 Memphis sale. Prior to this discovery there were only two large notes reported from this bank, and only one offering made 16 years ago. This note is very pleasing with excellent pen signatures of T.M. Callahan, President and P.W. Reel, Cashier. It's hard to say when, or if, another will appear. This town was platted in 1902 by H.J. Parish, who built a lumberyard here and named the town for his son John. Parish, along with W.E. Letford and T.M. Callahan, helped organize the First National Bank of Johnstown in 1904, which got its national charter three years later.
