Lot #1687 - Ault, Farmers NB, W8167

National Bank Notes > Colorado

Ault, Farmers NB, W8167
Fr. 617 $10 1902DB
Grade: Fine
We sold a similar grade note in the Mayer Collection where it was described as, "Many of the notes in this collection are not in the census, and this pleasing example is another new addition. It is a scarce note with no problems. There are now four large examples reported on this tiny Weld county bank. Around 700 people resided in Ault when this note was considered just another $10 bill". This example sold for $2,416 in June 2008. This note is somewhat better than that example and has purple stamped signatures. Currently one of five large notes reported on the bank. This community had many names prior to Ault, which was selected in 1904. Named after Alexander Ault who was a grain dealer that purchased large amounts of wheat during periods of drought and hard times, saving the local farmers. For that service, the residents named the town in his honor.
Current Bid: $ 1,200.00
