February 1, 186_. By far, one of the most visually attractive proofs offered in this sale is this vibrant Bank of the Republic, Boston $50. It has an intricate array of security features and colors. There are two ornate counters on the top corners, surrounded by small red 50's, "Fifty" protectors at center, gray grill work at left and right sides, the Massachusetts state seal at bottom left and two girls at right. This is also an HPN. One of my favorite proofs in the sale. Imprint of American Bank Note Co. Printed on India paper (Plate A). Tiny split at top. No ABNC stamp on back. From the Eastern Collection.
