Fr. 1132d $500 1918 Cleveland
Grade:
PCGS XF 40 Apparent
This is a second example of the Cleveland 1918 $500 FRN and it has been graded XF 40 Apparent due to minor restoration; the only thing I can find is in the top edge where there seems to be a miniscule thin. Before these were graded I really thought this was a lot better quality, but obviously they didn't, yet both pieces are amazing. In the Track & Price census there are only 13 notes, from all districts, that are XF or better. This note last appeared in our 2000 Memphis sale where it was listed as follows, "This note came from Kagin's in the mid-1980s and went to Stack's Gil Steinberg sale. It is a well centered note that shows slight circulation. Just right to save a fortune compared to Gems these days; of course I don't known where to get one of these".
