This was the first bank chartered on this Otero County town, chartered in 1903. It has taken 112 years to uncover a note from this charter that was in business until 1924. The bank issued Red Seal, Date Back and Plain Back large size, with a total of 732 Red Seal sheets and 2,154 Blue Seal sheets. This note has excellent, bold black pen signatures of Boon Best, President and F. Mahaan, Cashier. ---- Everyone recognizes Rocky Ford for their famed cantaloupes and watermelons.
