First Ever Auction Appearance For Bank
National Bank Notes > Missouri
Saint Louis, Second NB, 139
Fr. 380a $1 Original
Grade:
VF
The Second National Bank was chartered in 1863, issuing Original series notes from Aces to Hundreds up until January 1878 when the bank was liquidated. The bank was located at "3rd Street, next door south of the Post Office", per an 1869 City Directory. Beautiful pen signatures of E.D. Jones as Cashier and H.C. Moore (a Director) signing FOR the President. What an amazing and gorgeous note! This now makes the sixth note reported in both the National Bank Note Census and Track & Price, yet will now be the first note to appear at auction. This is most likely the finest note of all six, as only another Ace is listed as VF.
