There are two small size sheets reported. ---- Named for Longs Peak (14,255 ft.) which can be easily seen from the town, Longmont was founded in 1871 by a group of Chicagoans who had decided to found a new town in Colorado. Originally called the Chicago-Colorado Colony, the men sold memberships in the town and used the proceeds to purchase the necessary land. The city thrived after a railroad line from Boulder arrived in 1877.
