This is second in rarity only to the Type 2 $100 for numbers printed or known. There are only four examples known of the #1 $50 Type 2s, this one and two others are called AU and just one is called UNC. The National Bank Note Census indicates there are three $50 Type 2s reported from this rare #14021 charter, with the #3 being UNC and #138 a VF. This note comes with a letter dated June 1957 from the signer of the bill and a gift envelope. The letter is signed "Dad". From the Rocky Mountain Collection. ---- Adventurers seeking their fortune in gold came to Boulder in 1858. A settlement grew up to supply miners in the mountains to the west. The name came from the abundance of large rocks in the area.
