Now known as Tipp City, the name was changed from Tippecanoe City in 1938 to alleviate confusion with Tippecanoe, Ohio located some 200 miles away. Originally named after Presidential candidate William Henry Harrison s nickname, Tippecanoe. This prize from the Selvage Collection is the finest of the four Red Seals known on the bank. An interesting notation in the top selvage says, 'Signed. July 6th 1907. first one'. This probably refers to a newly appointed Cashier Alijah W. Miles or T.C. Leonard, Vice President.
