Printed on fragile paper, collectors have been forced to accept everything from minor edge splits to major reconstruction when selecting the perfect piece. This example is utterly free of restoration and with embossing evident, surprising us that PCGS chose not to apply the PPQ designator, although this was among the very first notes graded by the firm. Decidedly a premium piece that rests squarely in the upper 15% in the census. In March, 2013 we sold a Fr. 3 in VF 20 PPQ at $5,750; be assured that this note is every bit the equal.
