A lovely #1 Type 1 from this Kiowa County bank that has 29 small notes and 1 uncut sheet reported. We sold this group when it appeared a decade or so ago. This note is graded '62' because of a sheet fold along the margin. From the Rocky Mountain Collection. ---- Eads was named for James B. Eads, an engineer who built the Eads Bridge across the Mississippi at St. Louis. The town was originally called Dayton when the railroad pushed into the area. However, the tracks stopped 3 miles short of the town, so all the buildings were picked up and moved to the railroad. (It must have been expensive to lay track back then.) The new location got the new name of Eads.
