This note was signed by F.P Sheldon as President. He was only president of this bank in 1929 but he also signed as president on Deer River, Grand Rapids and International Falls, Minnesota banks. After 1929 A.A. Warfield became president through 1935. Bemidji lies on the southwest shore of Lake Bemidji, the northernmost lake feeding the Mississippi River and, as such, is deemed "the first city on the Mississippi."
