While in general notes from this bank are not rare, this example is a most unusual anomaly. All of the notes we have seen from this occupational issuer bear high bank serials and printed signatures; this one bears low serial #87 and has beautiful pen signatures of bank officers L.J. Ross, cashier, and E. J. Manion, president. It would appear only the first hundred or so sheets bore pen signatures, before the bank obtained its pantograph machine and began overprinting the signatures. A great item for the St. Louis specialists!
