A lovely, high grade Department of 1882 note. The census shows 48 reported examples and this note is included in that report, although it is shown without a grade. There are only three notes TPG higher - '66', '55', '50'. This may well be the finest example graded XF by either service. Records indicate a PMG 35 realized $6,038 in June 2008 and we sold a PMG 58 for $26,450 in June 2007. Several ungraded notes have also sold. This note has great color and impressive centering. It should appeal to high-end collectors.
