This is the only verifiable serial #1 Fr. 62 that is known, and another, whose exact variety is questioned, has not been seen for over 30 years. This note has the American Bank Note Company/National Bank Note Company at the bottom, the 1862 date and Second Obligation on the back. It was first offered by Stack's in 1956, and a generation later by Kagin's. It has been 30 years since its last public appearance. A valuable and evenly circulated #1 note from this series. This could make the start of quite a set of early #1 notes. This is a very scarce variety with only 42 notes reported, and only six listed as nice as AU. Graded VF 25 by CGA.
