$1 1963-A FRN #G22222222*
Grade: PCGS Ch. XF 45     PCGS
Amongst if not the rarest notes in the Key collection. Looking at the Schwartz-Lindquist 10th Edition of the Standard Guide to Small Size U. S. Paper Money we find the total number of $1 FRN serial #22222222*s printed since the 1963 series: 1963 - 0, 1963-A - 6, 1963-B - 0, 1969, 1969-A, 1969-B, 1969-C, 1969-D - all 0, 1974 - 1974 - 0, 1977 and 1977-A - 1, 1981* and 1981-A - 0, 1985 - 0, 1988 - 0, 1988-A - 2, 1993 - 0, 1995 - 1, 1999 - 0, 2001 - 0, 2003 and 2003-A - 0, 2006 - 0. Only TEN serial #22222222* have ever been printed from all $1 series 1963 - 2006. Comparing 10 of this serial number with several hundred million total star notes printed since the 1963 series, and you get a better feel for the rarity of this note. We decided to examine the same guidebook even closer, to learn how many $2, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 additional serial number #22222222* stars were printed from all series 1963 to 2009. The results might surprise you: $2 - none, $5 - none, $10 - two, $20 - none, $50 - none, and $100 none. So with over a BILLION $1 - $100 star notes printed since 1928, only 12 serial #22222222*s were printed. This ultra rarity from the James W. "Billy" Key Collection looks two grades higher in its holder, than the technical grade given. Our estimate may be far too low for this amazing note.
