April 19, 1861. A pair of counterfeit of these city notes. The $1 says "Receivable In City Taxes" on the right tablet instead of "Receivable For City Taxes." This note, like the originals, displays a vignette of a Spanish milled dollar and a dog guarding a safe with a key in the foreground. The $2 note has an almost comical vignette of Governor Letcher and is glued at the ends to a plain piece of bank note paper. . Two note lot.
