Fr. 1890-K $100 1929 Dallas K-A
Grade: PMG Ch. UNC 63     PMG
An extremely scarce district to locate in any PMG or PCGS uncirculated grade. PMG has seen just five examples in all with two better, while PCGS also has seen only five CUs. There is also a chance that some of these reports will represent the same note. The specimen we offer here is completely original, with a little teller handling showing at the right. The narrow bottom margin justifies the numerical grade, but the lack of the 'EPQ' qualifier seems overly harsh. The handling is minor, so perhaps the tiny blue mark in the back margin is the excuse. If so, I expect most collectors could live with that. Caution should be used when considering raw Dallas $100s in CU. Years ago a Texas coin dealer had a large number of $100s in AU/UNC but with staining. Many of those notes have since been bleached or otherwise brightened, pressed out and offered as Gems. I've seen none get past PMG or PCGS and end up in any holder better than AU.
