Vertical ink smears, likely from roller feeders, adorn the back of this high denomination. Only about half dozen errors, of any variety, are known on the $500 denomination. This is only the third we've sold. The slender smear extends from nearly the top to the bottom edge of the note, near where left quarter fold would appear. Perhaps not dramatic, but where will you locate another? PCGS concurs and the slab label notes "Small Ink Smear on Back."
