Founded in 1840 along the developing Miami & Erie Canal, Tippecanoe City takes its name from Presidential candidate William Henry Harrison's nickname, Tippecanoe. The town's development slowed during the mid-19th century, with the onset of rail travel. Not only is this a scarce bank in large size (eight known), but the layout is exceptional. Also, it's one of the better town names in Ohio. There is only one other $5 Brownback known, and since we sold it in our 1996 Memphis sale, it has not reappeared.
