This note last appeared in the Frank Levitan collection in December 1998 where it realized $22,000. Since then I have sold #A256 in XF in the Diamond Bar collection that PCGS graded VF 30 and it realized $29,900. An important rarity among Gold Certificate enthusiasts, and I am definitely one. Because of the withdrawal from circulation and illegal ownership during the Depression until the 1960s, most of the individuals who had previously been collectors obeyed the law and turned in these notes for redemption during that period. Now collectors find this series virtually impossible to acquire. This note is very fresh, totally original and extremely rare. It does have three solid folds but little sign of real circulation. This note is likely the finest known.
