This is one of the rarest of all Gold Certificates with only five examples in the census, and the only note better was offered and sold by us in October 2005 for $80,500. In fact, the census shows just three different notes to have ever appeared in auction. This is clearly the second finest known, and the others are low grade. Don't confuse this with the more common Fr. 1188, which has eight notes reported. The value is quite clearly evident with only a glance at the records. This note was the Friedberg plate note, earlier.
