Mountainhome is in Elmore County and the bank was established in 1902. The town started as a stagecoach stop called Rattlesnake Station for the Overland Stage Line but in 1883 it moved downhill by the Oregon Short Line Rail Road. This note is one of two Red Seals known to have survived from the six large notes reported. Over a decade ago the #1 Red Seal brought $24,750. This note came from the Dreger Collection and it's a lovely VF with excellent pen signatures of John Pence and H. Reckmeyer.
