Fr. 606 $5 1902ND

What a wonderful town name to be found in a sale that also offers a Roundup, Montana. Notes from here would be expensive even if they were not as rare as they are. This tiny bank, in Contra Costa County, issued only 1902 Plainbacks before closing in 1928 after 10 years in business. To date, only three examples have surfaced, so it's clear that there are far more buyers than there are notes. This piece is a full grade nicer than either of the other two notes. Add in the purple stamped signatures and you get a note anyone would be thrilled to own. Only one public appearance has been traced by Track & Price for a note on this bank. That occurred back in 2007 when this same note brought nearly $20,000 in an auction. Some light restoration is noted in the field next to the portrait, mostly to close some pinholes and cover a spot. It's hard to see and the note is better for it.
Current Bid: $ 13,500.00

Estimate: ($ 22,500.00 - $ 35,000.00)
