Lot #1602 - Fr. 315 $20 1886

Large Size Type Notes > Silver Certificates

Fr. 315 $20 1886
Grade: PCGS VF 35 Apparent     PCGS
When it comes to the exotic types, the Diamond Back is at the top of most collector s lists. This is an exceptional example since most of the folds are light and don t interfere at all with the design. The all-important back vignette is perfect, without dirt or worn spots. Only 26 notes are reported, versus 74 for the more common Fr. 314. This note has not been pressed, so it probably would have received a PPQ rating had it not been for a tiny edge restoration at the top left. It would be a mistake to reject this otherwise wonderful example for such a small fault that doesn t even show. There are no known uncirculated notes for this Friedberg number, but the three best clock in at AU-55. There is one XF-45 and one XF-40 Apparent with restoration, making the note we offer here the sixth best. However, I have seen the XF-40 note and feel this note is superior due to the minimal amount of restoration and the natural surfaces. The PMG XF-45 just brought $58,750 late last year. Take one look at this jewel and you ll love it.
