One can t miss the superb blue pen signatures of the cashier and president on this $20. From among the last batch of sheets printed for the bank, this example has three light bends and a sheet fold in the extreme top margin. Obtained privately for the Selvage Collection over 10 years ago. Following that acquisition, the $10 'F' position sheet mate appeared at auction a couple of times in 2004 before disappearing again. Using some non-scientific sampling, I found that every Plain Back I checked had dark printed signatures for the bank officers. That even included a sheet about 2,000 sheets lower that this one. Considering the sheet fold and the appearance of a sheet mate, it is likely this single sheet was pulled from the final order and hand-signed to be kept by someone in the bank. A special note indeed!
