This is absolutely one of the greatest Colorado notes of all time. In fact, in many respects this is one of the greatest notes of its type because it is serial #1 and a Gem CU. I had the pleasure of handling this cut sheet more than 30 years ago, and now I have the pleasure of offering the second note sold from the foursome. The Hickman Project records show there are only thirty #1 1882 datebacks in all grades and denominations; 16 are $5s and none are better. This bank is most famous for its black charter notes, but notes from this cut sheet have it all. There are only four other large size state notes and one small size note known from this bank.
