Fr. 1132-I $500 1918BS Minneapolis
Grade:
PCGS Fine 15 Apparent
Unique is a clear way to state the rarity of this Series of 1918 Minneapolis $500. This bank was unknown well into the 1990s when this example appeared, when it was sold in a private transaction for $140,000, or at least that was the rumor at the time. The low serial #I55A is of little help in determining the issuance but even when small size high denominations were printed the Minneapolis issues were low in virtually every instance. Let's face it, $500 was a pile of money unless it was part of the cash reserves of a bank. This note has been professionally restored by the industry's finest and it's now graded Fine 15 Apparent. The eye appeal remains excellent.
