Kalispell serves as the seat of Flathead County and was founded in 1891 by James J. Hill as part of the expansion of the Great Northern Railroad. From the 40 large notes on this bank, five are $5 Brownbacks and the rest are 1882 Datebacks and Third Charters. Well used, but the pen signatures of W.G. Conrad and G. Phillips remain.
