Council Grove was named for the council held in the location in 1825 between Unites States representatives attempting to negotiate a route to Santa Fe and the Osage Indian tribe. Twelve large notes are reported on this bank, but only this one $5 Brownback. Nice pen signatures and enough grade to matter. A good note for the collector that wants something better, but can't afford a five figure note.
