July 1, 1838. A note that has the 'Sam Houston' presidential signature that was done by authority of the Texas Legislature (since Sam had an ailing wrist) by William G. Cooke. This note is cut cancelled with two 'Xs' and cuts through the signatures. A neat piece of early Texas history.
