NY-2965 G4. Feb. 9, 1861. A very rare genuine note from this sought-after Brooklyn bank. Listed as SENC in Haxby, we have not been able to trace a single offering of a $2 note from this institution; the few $1 notes we did find brought good money a decade ago. This bank converted to national status in 1865, and most of its notes were redeemed by the new Farmers & Citizens National Bank of Brooklyn. An important note for the many collectors of Long Island obsoletes. A couple minor shore-up repairs mentioned for accuracy.
