January 10, 1860. A rare spurious note on this rare bank, which became the Franklin County National Bank of Greenfield (Charter #920). Haxby only lists a spurious $5 note with a red overprint, but this note does not have an overprint. There is an internal void, a missing corner, and an edge tear. This note is marked "counterfeit" on the back. Haxby MA-645.
