October 20, 1852. This note has two vignettes that were used to help deter raising the value, five people surrounding a large "V" at the lower left and five allegorical figures surrounding a large "5" at the lower right. One of the first state authorized free banks to open, this bank operated from 1852 until1855. The circulation outstanding on December 15, 1855 was only $612. This note has a myriad of problems, including two edge bumps, one at the top and one at the bottom, a hard fold at the lower left, and some pretty heavy staining at the bottom. There are also some very small pinholes. A scarce bank. Haxby IN-370 G6.
