Elkader State Bank of Iowa $5 Counterfeit

1859. Unfortunately, no such bank was in Elkader. The piece pretends to be from the Oskaloosa branch of the State Bank of Iowa. However, it is a well known counterfeit. See the reversed "a"s in the American Banknote Company imprint in the lower left of the face of the note. The city is weak and hard to read. Some flaws.
