Sag Harbor Suffolk County Bank $1
Grade:
Fine
Haxby NY-2480-G2e SENC. May 1, 1844. Genuine notes from the Suffolk County Bank are rare and most were owned by one collector for decades. This full color tinted, issued note with a later "ABNCo" monogram is the most available type from the bank, yet is rarely seen for public sale. The example here surface upstate several years back and was one of the few not held by the previously mentioned Alan York or in a museum. The whaling vignette is a rarer type and was used by only a few banks. This might be superior to a similar note sold by Heritage at Long Beach last year for $3,055. Some pinholes and one larger hole away from the vignette, along with some small annotations on back with 1007 written in blue ink.
