While a common bank, this is both a rarity at the state and national level. According the National Bank Note Census, there are only 134 $100 1882 Date Backs for the entire country, and of that figure, 14 reported for Texas. Of that 14, five are not available, with three in the Moody holdings, and two in the Rowe-Barr Collection at SMU, leaving only nine $100 1882 Date Backs on Texas that could appear at some time, but when? This bank has three $100s in the census, with this note last appearing in a 2007 Bowers & Merena sale, and another note in a 2010 Heritage sale. Great pen signatures on this problem-free rarity.
