Boston Manufacturers & Mechanics Bank $1 Proof

A really scarce proof if ever there was one with few examples known on this bank. Yellowish hue to the paper with the central vignette showing a coastal scene with ship and building as well as an Indian with bow inside an oval frame. There is a small edge tear at left and the note itself is absolutely uncirculated. When Tom sold his collection in 2003 this beauty realized $373.75, a figure that should prove to be quite undervalued when compared to today's final hammer price. Ex: Tom Denly Collection.
