Rare First Charter Ten - One of Three Known
National Bank Notes > Kentucky
Newport, First NB, 2276
Fr. 420 $10 1875
Grade:
PCGS Apparent VG 10
A great note that came into existence at the end of the First Charter period in 1875 and which was out the door by 1897. Only three examples are known, two $10s and a $5. This example has decent margins and good color but with some edge splits, tears, and minor paper scuffs, all of which one expects to see on a note in this state of preservation. In 2009 we sold the $5 note, a problemed VG, for $3,525, and that market was not nearly as formidable as today's.
