T-33 $5 September 2, 1861 Contemporary Counterfeit
Grade: PMG Ch. UNC 63 EPQ
Very few contemporary counterfeits of this T-33 type make it to this Ch. CU grade level. It is a very convincing Upham counterfeit that would be worth a few thousand if genuine. This seems to have been graded with a conservative eye as it looks like a Gem to me. This same note sold for $300 back in 2012.
