Hartford Empire Steam Laundry $1 Advertising Note
Grade: PMG XF 40 Net
Such a cool piece of advertising scrip, dated from the Spanish-American War of 1898. PMG notes splits but we can see just one small one at upper right. The face states "AMERICAN NAVY" and "State of Patriotism" at the bottom. Portraits of Commodore Schley, Admiral Sampson, Commodore Watson, Admiral Dewey, Capt. Evans and Capt. Bigsbee. The "officers" listed at the bottom are Uncle Sam as Commander and Skill and Pluck as the Engineers. The back displays all the advertising information as well as a lengthy poem. We already mentioned that this is cool but it bears repeating.
