Only the 3/4" IR (infra-red) strip was properly inked on the back of this note. Use of IR was introduced with the series 1996 and while it is beneficial in automatic bill scanners and counters, the BEP experienced only a few problems during the learning phase. Of course, in this example (and the next) the IR band is just lovely.
